Thank you for your interest in commissioning an artwork!  This is a great way to show everyone how much you love your animal companion.  A piece of art can also honor a dearly departed animal.  Please view the images at the bottom of this page or visit my galleries to check out my style of painting and drawing.  I am open to painting any animal from your cat to your horse to your tarantula!

I currently offer oil or acrylic paintings and ink wash drawings in various sizes.  Below are prices and sizes (shipping is extra…keep in mind that shipping may be very expensive for large, heavy artworks).  I can do other sizes, but the ones below are the most typical—contact me about pricing for a different size (the prices of other sizes will generally correlate with the prices below).  Paintings are made on stretched canvas and come equipped with hanging wire.  Drawings are done on archival rag paper.  I currently do not offer framing, but check back or contact me if that is something you are very interested in.  I am open to doing commissions in mediums other than oil, acrylic, or ink if you prefer, just let me know!  I am very flexible.

Depending on how many requests I get, your portrait will take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to finish and dry.  I take a 20% nonrefundable deposit before starting each commission.  Feel free to inquire about discounts as they may be available!  We can figure something out based on your budget and needs.

Click here for an invoice example.  Testimonials will be greatly appreciated, but of course are up to you.  Even though I still own the copyright to all the art I make, I will not sell prints or anything of your commissioned piece due to the personal nature of it.  If you prefer that I don't post the image of your animal online along with the artwork, let me know.

*The sizes of the ink drawings are the size of the artwork, but I will leave some empty space on each side so it could be framed or matted easier.  For example, a 20 x 28 inch drawing could be on 22 x 30 inch paper.  I will usually sketch with pencil before diving into the ink.  My ink wash drawings usually incorporate a bit of pen and ink.  To get a better idea of how my ink work looks, check out my galleries.

There are a few options with ink: colored, black, or walnut.  I can use colored inks to create an interesting colorful drawing.  I can also just use black ink if you prefer, which is a very classic and elegant choice.  I can also use walnut ink, which is a lovely rich brown (a bit like a sepia effect).  I can also do a combination of these.  This is completely up to you.  If you don’t know how to choose, contact me and I can give you more information about the inks.  I can also give you my opinion based on the picture of your pet.

These artworks include one animal each or add 25% for each additional animal.  You are welcome to decide what background color you want, otherwise I will decide on what works best with the painting.  I sign each painting with a subtle, matching color to the background.  If you want a complicated background, contact me with your ideas for pricing.  If you have a preference between horizontal or vertical artworks (i.e. 18 x 24 versus 24 x 18), let me know.

To commission an artwork, contact me directly here.  I will then ask you to send me the picture of your pet you wish me to paint.  I am also willing to meet you and your animal in person.  I can take pictures of your pet if we meet in person and use of one those as a reference photo if that works for you.  Before starting, I will usually ask some questions about painting red eyes, collars, or other various things.  The title of the artwork will be your pet’s name.  I will email you with a picture of the artwork for your approval before shipping or delivery (I can deliver artwork in the Denver Metro area, including Colorado Springs, Longmont, Loveland, and Fort Collins).  Your satisfaction is very important to me, so no worries if you want me to change a background color or something like that.

I currently accept US cash and Paypal.

I am happy to answer all your questions no matter how small!  Just send me a message!  :)
